On 8th August, 1918, the day on which the game changing Battle of Amiens began, the 11th Essex battalion of 18 Brigade, 6th Division were further north in the Ypres sector of the Western Front. They had been relieved from the front line in the Scherpenberg-Dickebusch system on 6th August and had moved back to Mic Mac Camp from where they provided working parties under the supervision of the Royal Engineers. Joseph Jackson died from wounds on 9th August but it is not known when he was wounded. |
